The Asenevtsi Monument is dedicated to кings Asen, Peter, Kaloyan and Ivan Assen II. It was built in 1985, at the age of 800 years since the rebellion of the Assen and Peter brothers. The sword around which the four Asseneans are situated symbolizes the power and the rise of medieval Bulgaria.
Asenevtsi are three brothers who governed Bulgaria after its release from Byzantine slavery. The first two – Assen and Peter gave their lives Bulgaria once again to exist as an independent country and their brother Kaloyan – the country to become one of the main forces in Eastern Europe.
Their successor king Ivan Assen II (Yoan Assen II) turned out to be an outstanding diplomat and raises Bulgaria to its second historical apogee.02.04.2018
